Background: The implementation of dental health education at SDN Telang 1 Kamal Bangkalan is given once a year by Health officers, to deliver the material using the lecture method and has not provided material with incentives related to knowledge about dental caries. Based on the results of the examination, it was found that 93.2% were affected by caries in class V and VI students at SDN Telang 1 Kamal Bangkalan, this is included in the high category because the long-term target based on the 2012 UKGS guidelines is 50% caries-free rate for mixed teeth and >70% caries-free rate for class 6. Objective: The aim of this research is to determine the difference in knowledge of class V and VI students about dental caries through animated video media at SDN Telang 1 Kamal Bangkalan. Method: The type of research method used is a quasi-experimental method or known as Quasy Experiment with a one group pretest – posttest design. The data collection method used was a questionnaire. The data analysis technique uses the SPSS data processing application with data analysis using the Wilcoxson test. Results: the results of the analysis for class V and VI students at SDN Telang 1 Kamal Bangkalan show Asymp Sig. (2-tailed) of 0.000 < 0.05 so it can be concluded that there is a difference in knowledge before being given counseling and after being given counseling using animated video media.Downloads
