An Electronic Medical Record (EMR) is a document that contains data on patient identity, treatment, examination, actions, and other health services, which serves as a source of information for medical personnel. The quality of medical records is determined by the completeness, suitability, validity, and protection of the confidentiality of the information contained therein. Incomplete medical records often occur from the registration stage until the patient is discharged, which can cause data discrepancies and difficulties in identifying patient health information. The responsibility of medical recorders in recording data correctly is very important in maintaining service quality. Work motivation plays a role in improving the performance of medical recorders, because it encourages them to be more thorough and responsible in recording. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of work motivation of medical recorders on the completeness of recording medical record demographic data at the 05.08.04 Lawang Army Support Hospital. The research method used was quantitative with a cross sectional approach with two samples, namely 5 registration officers and 30 patient medical record data. The result is the P-value ≥ α, meaning that there is no significant relationship between the work motivation of medical recorders and the completeness of recording patient medical record demographic data. This study shows that despite high work motivation the completeness of demographic data is still less than optimal, so it is possible if external factors play a role in the high rate of incomplete demographic data.
